Sid Meier's Civilization V is the fifth iteration in Firaxis Games turn-based strategy series. In the game, the player is in charge of building a Civilization over the span of thousands of years. The player picks a leader of a country, and may choose a variety of options, such as how big the world is, how many contending countrys and city-states there will be, and many other variables.. Civilization V games are notorious among the gaming community for the considerable length of each game; some of which span from five hours to a few days at times. The player will make many important choices that will sway how your Civilization will grow. After each turn the years that go by, depending on the length of game you chose at the start will add on to the clock. There are many ways to obtain victory, but you'll have to find that out for your self! Can you build a civilization that can stand the test of time? Or will your civilization, like many others before it fall? It is up to you.

Heard somewhere that you can deactivate the mods, restart the game and load the save and it will reactivate achievements, is this true? Any way I could check?

I'm not normally bothered about achievements really, but i'm sort of using them in this game and didn't want to achieve the victory i was going for and not get it.

    • Only a couple hours into the game and i sort of messed up a little with city placement and early research (going for science victory) anyway, so guess restarting wouldn't be the worst thing ever.

Only completed a few games at all because i normally get myself into some stupid situtation and give up. I won one culture victory, which was frankly pretty easy and came very close to winning a war victory, but the time ran out. With a few more turns or a smaller map i'd have done it.

Anyway, general tips on this would be amazing. Things about keeping your econamy going, things you should always be doing, things you should never be doing etc.

I'm currently planning a science victory attempt next time i play.

    • ahahah, I also suck a lot at this, but I like it. The only problem is that's incredibly time consuming, so I only put some hours in it...

    • That does sound good for me actually. I don't always have time for long gaming sessions and often looking for something i can play for like 30 mins to fill in gaps. Could be one to look out for for me, thanks :-)

Wish more of the mods for this didn't require the expansion packs. Whenever I do get back to this though, I'm definitely playing as The Deep Ones, led by Cthulhu.

    • The one I want the most is the Bioshock civilization. Rapture led by Andrew Ryan. If the perks were good, I'd probably only play as him from then on. lol
