Surreal action adventure game starring Raz, a powerful young cadet at psychic summer camp. While working on his levitation merit badge, Raz discovers that someone is kidnapping psychic children and stealing their brains. In order to foil this evil plot and earn the title of Psychonaut, Raz must project himself into the minds of one bizarre character after another to battle their nightmares and mental demons. He does all this while continuing to earn his psychic merit badges in Telekinesis, Clairvoyance, Pyrokinesis and more. Players run, bounce, float, climb, swing and sneak while defeating monsters, lunatics and demons with the Psi-Blast, a mental burst of energy that will banish nightmares.

Game buzz for Psychonauts

During "Amnesia Fortnight" weeks Double Fine games end up in my hands somehow. I cannot resist them...

    100%.

Another Double Fine game, another gem filled with Tim Schafer's humor.

The Milkman Conspiracy is easily my favorite part, reminded me of the good old Day of the Tentacle delirium =D

I love the graphic of games like this and Jak & daxter

Yep. My favorite video game of all time. Got the original disc for xbox and downloaded it onto the xbox 360 as a back-up.

Milla's Secret is horrible. I was staring at the screen without doing anything for quite a while.

$2.49 on Steam at the moment. Definitely recommend it, is an amazing game.

[+] As a matter of fact, I've cleared Psychonauts

I've achieved the 92th psychic rank: it's a matter of fact that pushing yourself till the 101th rank, the maximum available, is really time consuming and sometimes is very luck-based

Furthermore, I tryed to gain as many achievements as possible: some of the newly implemented Steam achievements are very prone to be MISSED FOREVER. And if you don't know exactly what to do and where, you are basically screwed for that one playthrought: they are very circumstancial

Replaying Psychonauts on PC was very enjoyable: if anything, it pointed out to me pretty well that the Playstation 2 port was rather crappy (more precisely, the downloading times are far longer and there are some sound issues)

In the end, I found again what I loved about Psychonauts in the first place and in Tim Schafer's game in general: a title with a great artistic direction and a plot that you can enjoy both if you just experience it as you go and if you just stop a second and dig deeper and deeper

is notorious among gamers for offering a great step-up in difficulty from the other zones. Not only the place is the hardest to navigate, but it's pretty DIRECT about it

That's the main reason, I'm taking, for a patch that hit Psychonauts on Steam: said upgrade basically prevents you from loosing lives during the final level, slightly decreasing the stress factor

To be more precise, the main two events of the Meat CircusSelect text to reveal spoiler
    To use:
Hide spoilers
are first a dreadful escort mission, and second a section which is basically PLATFORMING HELL

All of that said, the final level of Psychonauts is a good enclosure to the game: the main premise behind the area is very clever, the music is later catchy and the whole impact is HORRORIFIC

[+] The Asylum, one of the final setting of Psychonauts, is a pretty damn annoying ascension

The main problem is the only kind of enemies dwelling the zone: MUTATED RATS

Trust me, neither the FINAL BOSS is that annoying: they come in pack and can climb freely everywhere. They will chase down your ARSE and explode. The rats kamikaze tendencies hold the effect of a CONFUSION GRANADE. Therefore, you won't be able to move freely or use your power and you will be hit like by a truck

The level design isn't very friendly either: towards the end, the tower develops a very strange, twisted architecture, which is never a good sign in a platform game
