I just got this for Steam. With the new update, can you finally play this with a controller?

[+] Alright, well, I'm drunk as hell, and I think it's time to finally play Mass Effect. I've had it on Origin for a very long time, but for some reason I've never touched it. I've heard so many great things about it over the years, so here we go. Lets do this.

    • @MugenDraco I'm the same way. When I begin a franchise for the first time, I usually make it a point to start at the beginning. That doesn't ALWAYS happen, but that's what I prefer to do.

I never understood people that come into a franchise in the middle of it. Aren't you going to be a bit lost on the story? (Unless the plot doesn't directly connect to the previous game's plot or it has some sort of a recap that brings you up to speed) and if you wanted to play the previous games in order to catch up, it's going to be difficult because the gameplay will be less-refined by comparison. Also, it makes me wonder, what got the person interested in the series all of a sudden? Because it seems pretty clear they weren't before if they never played any of the games up to that point.

Hate how the Rachni keep spitting at me. Stahp it

ME1 finished (again). I may not have reached level 60, but 53 is sufficient enough to run through the game again on the harder difficulties.

Now onto ME2, which is still my favorite game in the trilogy.

    Virmire done.

Contrast to my first playthrough when I saved Ash, I saved Kaidan instead. Not only is Kaidan more useful as a biotic, he's more likable than her, too. Her racism didn't help much, either.

    • Wouldn't call her a racist but more a bigot. Racisim is Cerberus. Ash just had a hard time accepting them but she grew

Almost at level 45, with Noveria and Virmire left to go before Ilos.

Might reach 60 before the end of this first game.

    • No you won't. Unless you have been doing almost every side quest and been jumping out of the Mako to get the kill-shot on enemies while on foot. The EXP requirements for the last few levels is insane.

It's possible to do in two playthroughs, but unless you know from the get go what you need to do, it is unlikely to happen.

Although there is a infinite EXP glitch on Therum to exploit.

Could I reach 60? Doubt it.

The Mako's handling is still sh*t, I can't wrap my head around the shooting mechanics and there's constant frame-rate drops throughout the game, particularly when you're exploring in the Mako.

It's still a great game, nonetheless.

    • Combat was *expletive deleted* and had no oomph to it, but I do miss how there was less pressure on you in this game. You could explore the galaxy while in the sequels it was all "WE'RE ALL GOING TO *expletive deleted* DIE IF YOU DON'T DO SOMETHING RIGHT NOW!!!" and you just felt like you didn't have time for anything on the side.

I found it funny when you could get your guns out on the Citadel and start firing everywhere, while nobody gives a f*ck....

  • Mass Effect

Playing this for the first time in a while.... and I remember how sh*t the Mako's handling was....
