A turn-based strategy game based on the 4X concept set in space. You select 1 of the 8 available factions to dominate space through economic or scientific advances, military interventions or diplomacy. Instead of scenarios the game offers a sandbox approach where the parameters and victory conditions can be defined for each match. The characteristics of each faction can also be altered to suit a specific playing style.
From the starting position you can colonize star systems with different planets. Based on the population's approval taxes can be imposed but they serve as a means to gather the 4 resources: food, industry, science and dust, of which the latter is the currency in the game. A fleet can be assembled by building custom ships where each element can be defined. Space battles aren't played out as a real-time strategy. Instead, general orders can be issued along with small interventions, even though they are presented in 3D with a cinematic camera angle.
Finally decided to cave in and got it during the steam sale... From my first try, I can say that I can see myself wasting tons of time playing this.... Dunno, Civ V never really grew on me, but this ...

Right now I'm kind of testing a personal faction... which has a focus on sturdy ships and better than average production value... for no reason at all, really. We'll see how it goes....
