Game buzz

  • Dragon Age: Origins

I don't mind large hordes of enemies, even if does turn into a bit of clusterfuck more often than not, but I do mind when every enemy there can and will stun you, or use their grab attacks constantly.

Just entered Lothering, already in a budding relationship with Morrigan. Grey Warden? More like Grey.... Grey.... Grey.... yeah, I got nothing.

So I got this game for free on Origins a while back, and I've been in a gaming rut for a while. Think I'll give this game a go.

[+] So I'm trying this again (after having bought it and Dragon Age II), and this time around I'm enjoying it a far sight more.

The first time I played the game it felt clunky and boring, and ultimately too outdated for my tastes. Admittedly it does still feel rather clunky, and in terms of narrative (especially considering I'm a Dalish Elf) particularly inconsistent, but again, I'm still enjoying it.

    • Well I wanted to engage in the encounter, and simply be like, "Cool, dying human." and just leave :P and dammit, I want me some ignorance to my Dalish fellow, so it justifies my, cool dying human, approach; otherwise I'm just kind of a *expletive deleted* :P

Made it to Lothringen for the third time in my life. Let's see, if I can THIS time get any further in this game. DA:I is waiting...

Running the game with reShade & SweetFX + downsampling (though 1440p or higher makes the icons disappear)

    • So there is such a thing as too much graphics, quick you better message Crytek and tell them to halt work on the CryEngine.... *Before they go too far!*

So, hey ... looting - stealing other peoples stuff - is totally ok, no matter, which character you *roleplay*, if it's in a videogame, right? No nerfing - not even for righteous, lawful heroes...

I re-tried it a few months back and absolutely loved it. Put well over 50h in to it. As the game got harder, near the end, I started continuously dieing, had to quick save after pretty much every major combat. This made the game much less enjoyable. A couple months ago I was stuck at certain point in the game (granted I didn't try that many times) and stopped playing. Even now I have no desire to go back to it and finish it. I think it is time to say goodbye and move on to DA2 before starting Inquisition.

    • I thought DA: I had plenty to offer in the "Dungeon" category. Maybe not as extensive as the Deep Roads, but all I encountered were both extensive and unique.

    • Like I said, definitely no complaint from my said. Just an extra wish. Having a bigger 'Skyrim'-like dungeon would have been nice. But as you say, they dungeons in the game are done really good.
