The game puts you in the shoes of Kayron Jarvis. Fresh from the flight-academy he learns from an good friend of his father, that his mysterious death was caused by sabotage. As a last gift from his father, he gets the ownership of the one-of-a-kind ship Darkstar One and now makes his way to find out the truth behind his fathers death.

It is a mix of Freelancer and Wing Commander: Privateer as you can fly your ship either with a mouse or a joystick.

As you solve the riddle you can visit 330 star-systems in which you can trade goods from other systems, take contracts like blasting a pirate gang out of the sky or try to be a pirate yourself.

    • The game is not great. Side missions are generic, repetitive and short, the game universe is small, the combat system is way too simple and the story is cliched.

But despite all that, the game is surprisingly fun xD

      Finished it twice on PC

I'm in the mood for some space adventures, so I picked up this Darkstar One in the bargain bin. Hope it turns out to be a decent game.

    • It's the closest one can get to having Freelancer on a console. The voice acting and story is pretty meh, but I still enjoyed it. Actually need to get back to it sometime.

    • @ Zakia: Thanks, I'm glad you like it:) the pilot comes from the Sonic Wings / Aero Fighters series.

@ WhitePhoenix: Thanks for your feedback. Freelancer is one of those games that I've always wanted but never been able to try.

I only have a few dislikes about the game. I wish you could hyperjump to any place that you have already discovered. Also, I dislike that you can't make a truce or surrender to the police if you accidentally shoot something while fighting pirates.

I'm here blowing up a pirate boss bounty and accidentally hit the trade station. Boom I had 15 police after me... At least I got an achievement for it! lol

    • It's pretty fun for remake adaption of a 5 year old pc game. The cinematic graphics are very poor, but the flight system is what makes the game.

What kind of gameplay does this game have all together?

Is it completely flying around in the space ship the whole time or do you ever control a character at any point in the game.

I saw a few previews on youtube, and some of them looked like it was a mix of the two. However, from what I've played of the game it's just been a space ship shooter.

Not complaining at all. I got the game as a gift two weeks ago, and enjoyed it when I tried it out. I just am in the mood to run around as a character a little bit right now.
