While I'm glad I got to pick this up (and for $10!), I did just add another game to my Gamecube backlog... two gens behind, damn it!

    • Oh yeah, when I visited Austin last year, I saw Pikmin 2 for $70 at a local game store. I saw Baten Kaitos at a gaming convention last year as well. It wasn't quite that much, but it was more than $10. I'm thinking it was $25 or $30 if I recall correctly.

This is why when Gamestop started phasing out their Gamecube games a few years back, I snatched up any good ones that I could.

    • Here we have a place called Gameware that's basically a better Gamestop. They actually test all their used games to make sure they work, they have a wider selection, the do repairs on consoles, and they sell retro stuff rather than phasing it all out. It's the only place I know of other than Play N Trade that still has NES, SNES and N64 games (plus games from those generations).

I can't believe how easy the last boss was. When I thought it was getting hard, it was already finished.

Although it sometimes exagerates in both factors. Sometimes the cities are so creative that it kinda looks a little ridiculous. And the gameplay is so frenetic that it seems impossible to make the combos properly or defending (mainly defending, seriously). The story is still kinda cliche, and it could have been a lot easier to manage the Magnus. Although I'm only pointing the game's mistakes I'm really loving it haha Oh, I'm also really disappointed about the difficulty, it's too easy, I died like... twice.... And that's a huge mistake for an RPG. I'm not sure if there were difficulty levels to choose before starting the game though... Is there?

    • Baten Kaitos is a real hidden treasure of the Gamecube. It uses a very original Card Battle System and the Setting and Characters are very interesting. I completed it 7 years ago and never touched it since then....

I liked Final Fantasy XIII quite much, but Baten Kaitos simply rocks among almost all other JRPG :D

    • unfortunate to say, I bought the game but never even remove the wrap. Still brand new sitting in my shelf along with many others that are unopen.

    • I had Baten Kaitos on the Gamecube, but it never really quite blew me away. No real complaints, it just wasn't my cup of tea.

My thoughts: Metal is by far one of my favorite genres of music, and I get excited everytime I hear it in games, this one included.

It sounds like your everyday metal song when you hear it the first time, but if you listen carefully you can kinda "feel" that it might have been written for an orchestra and not a metal band.

Love it when songs are complex and makes my brain hurt from thinking about it :D
