I'm a gamer who appreciates many different consoles from Atari to Nintendo to Microsoft and a lot in between. I love playing online on my PS3, Xbox and Xbox 360. I also have a PC for playing on Steam. Counterstrike, Day Of Defeat and HalfLife are just some of the games I play on the service Steam.

I'm a big fan of classic rock, groups I like are Boston, Rush, Foreigner, bad Company, Queen, Aerosmith, AC/DC and a lot more.

I live in Amarillo, Texas and I attend college there.

What does it mean to be a gamer?

I've been playing games for a long time and enjoy them. Through the hard days when school killings were on the rise and video games were easy targets for something to blame....not the parents apparently. From the days when some korean guy played Counterstrike for 48 hours straight and died I still play on Steam and I quit playing after an hour. I play new consoles like the 360 and the PS3 but own and play a Sega Master System too. I love playing online but a good singleplayer campaign with a good story keeps me playing as well but I don't feel the need to play all the time. Despite news stories stating that gamers are fat, lazy and depressed...............i'm still a gamer (i'm on a diet ssshhhh). Even though I attend college and spend a lot of time trying to learn something useful....I still play games. I suppose I will evetually tire of video games but I think that will be my last breath and moment on this planet.

So, what does it take to be a gamer? Pick up a controller and enjoy the game! Simple....and for some reason, i'm not raiding the fridge or needing a freakin' tissue because I rock at Battlefield 1943, funny but i'm not depressed about owning fools online.......hmmmm go figure.

A conflict of interests?

Back in the 80s, I use to play in the arcades all the time,probaly more then my home console which was the Atari 2600. I lived in a small town and my dad was a Manager at a truckstop. The town did have an arcade right across from my school so I actually played at lunch quite often and got real good at a lot of games.

I didn't have anything else to do and my family actually lived behind the truckstop which wasn't close to anything. The truckstop did have an arcade though and the games were real good at the time. I actually had the keys to the arcade machines so I cold play all day if I wanted to. My dad decided to have a competition with any kids from town in an arcade showdown. Naturally I was going to have be in it and in it to win. Most of the arcade players were so so and I had no trouble beating them in every game except one guy who kept it close because he was awesome at Dig Dug. When they tallied the total points from all the games (Dig Dug, Galaxian, Defender, Frogger, Asteroids, Ms. Pacman, Carnival, Pole Position,,,to name a few)..... I won by a decent margin but since I was the general manager's son I was denied the trophy and the guy who came in second with a big surge in Dig Dug took the trophy instead. I guess it was a "Conflict of Interest" but it didn't seem right since I still won the total points and didn't lose by much in Dig Dug. My dad let me keep the scoreboard where it clearly showed I won, at least I had that.

Just a gaming memory from the golden age of the arcades.
