I'm a total MAG convert now after a brilliant session with the OnR guys last night. Fun from start to finish and we won almost every game too. I even had some good games with the unwashed. People are starting to get better and play it the way it was designed to be played.

Oh yes!!!  Van Halen Guitar Hero out mid Feb :o) Shame I'll have to get it on the eggbox :o(

No probs, had some bloody good matches on there but i was competing with a 360, 2 laptops and the other ps3 in this house all on at the same time so the lag was (literally) killing me!!!! Should be on tomorrow night again :)

Without a doubt they need to add more maps. They have a number of issues to fix. As it is I don't think it's a £40 game. Value for money certainly isn't a strong point at the moment. If you can give it more time you might find you like it as an extra game so you do get some use out of it rather than trade it straight away. MW2 is still going to be king for me but MAG does offer something different and at the moment I'm starting to like it. It's still only early days though so a few more bad sessions before the end of the week could change that. I am seeing some positives though.

Well, I have to be honest, I don't know why I keep torturing myself reading the MAG forum on OnR, but I can't help myself.

I might give it another whirl, but tbh, I still feel the "you must stay together" edic is a little off putting, and from what I'm reading, the map rotations are pants and people are already bored of the same maps over and over again.

Sol, you really need to give MAG another try. Change the controls and it feels a lot better. I have no idea why they set the default like that but put your setting up to 85 then increase it as you feel comfortable. Some games are crap. Simple as that. If you're in a bad squad you have no chance. Get into a good squad though and it works really well. The points for healing pays off and I can understand why they've added that now. It makes you stay as a group and work together. It's easy for most people to carry the med kit so if you stay close as soon as someone goes down they can get revived. This helps you keep momentum if you're attacking or stay more solid when defending. It also cuts down on the die, respawn, die, respawn problems. It does take a while to get your head around a different way of playing if you're used to MW2 but it's worth the effort IMO. I think I'll be playing MW2 when I want a few quick games or feel like some lonewolf action and MAG when I have more time and feel like some team games.

And as Tim said, turn the mic up in the game settings and that should sort your comms out. I've had no problems so far. All perfectly clear. A lot of people still aren't talking, but again, get into a good squad and that changes.

What a difference a session can make. I still prefer MW2 by a long way but I really enjoyed tonight's session with some of the O&R; guys.

I'd been reading it all morning and to be honest I'm not really sure why I still bought it. I think it was mainly because I've got tonight to myself so I wanted something to do. Not impressed so far.

Good luck with that - have a read of the "on the fence" thread on OnR, some very mixed comments there, some very positive, some not so.

I honestly hope that it does succeed coz it could well set the tone for more pvp world games, that will learn lessons from MAG's example.  I just didn't find that it ticked any boxes for me personally.

Gamestation are giving an extra 20% on trade-in prices so I took the plunge. Very mixed so far. The cotrols feel far better after I adjusted them so it gets a +1 there. Zero comms and teamwork on the games I played though so -1 for that. Hopefully I'll get into some O&R; games later to see if it's any better with them. I'm trying to keep an open mind at the moment.
