PSP TO GET ACCES TO PSN!
At the start of September we reported that Sony Computer Entertainment would offer direct PlayStation Network access to Japanese PlayStation Portable users. Thankfully, it appears Europe and North America will be getting the same treatment.
According to French site PSPGen (translated by Exophase), the new functionality will arrive with Firmware 5.0. You can also look forward to an RSS component update capable of reading text-based articles (rather than just audio, video or images).
PSPGen's coverage is, admittedly, based on a development version of the firmware, so Sony could still remove (or add) features before release. We'll serve up some release dates as soon as we get our hands on 'em.
A weekly magazine on the PlayStation Network is due next year.
A high definition portal for previews and news will be available for PlayStation 3 owners from early 2009.
The pay-to-use magazine will be created by Future, who currently publish the Official PlayStation Magazine. It will also include exclusive content from third parties.
Future’s chief executive Robert Price said: “This product will provide a unique way for advertisers to connect directly with gamers through their consoles using the very latest high definition content.”
The pay-to-use Qore service in the US, also published by Future, allows paid subscribers to download exclusive demos and content before public release.
There are no details on the cost of the service.
sorry for the lack of posts. i have been...busy
OH MY GOD THE RUMOURS WERE TRUE!
he PSP will finally have a wi-fi store. (Everyone applauds and throws confetti in the air). SCEJ announced this great news today. It has been a long time coming. This will eliminate the need for a PS3 or PC when you purchase PSP content from the store. Great news indeed. It is not the only news.
PSP will have ONLINE play through the PS3. AMAZING. Titles that currently offer Ad-hoc multiplayer will have full infrastructure play through the PS3. (Must hold back tears of joy). Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G will be a title that takes advantage of this new feature. All PSPs will be able to use this new service. The service will also provide voice and text chat capabilities. (I wish the wireless keypad would play nice with the PSP, then all of my dreams would come true.)
More info will be released in the near future. I think TGS would be the perfect time for this. I will not complain if the info came sooner though. Hint hint
AHAH! YES!
very good. fu.ck the xbox fans pissing the genius off
kojima repeats what he allways said
Hideo Kojima sat down in an interview with Kikizo to discuss everything from his age to Killzone 2 to his possible involvement in the next Metal Gear Solid title. To start things off, let's all wish Mr. Kojima a happy belated birthday, who turned 45 years old this past Sunday.
Kikizo notes that the influential developer has stated he wants to stop working on the MGS series after the completion of every game since MGS2 . Kojima insists that he still feels that way, even currently, but because of "political, business or technology reasons, there is always a time when I have to return ... when we look ten years into the future, maybe yes, I may well end up spending more time on the Metal Gear series!"
When questioned about his trademark long cutscenes, Kojima had this to say: "In MGS4 , yes, I put everything in the cut sequences, which I kind of regret to some extent, because maybe there is a new approach which I should think about." He feels games like Halo and Bioshock , while brilliant in their own ways, "lack a kind of deeper storyline or the expression of the feelings of the characters." He thinks the key is to somehow offer both the freedom of an interactive story and the emotions brought on by FMVs. It looks like we'll definitely be hearing more from the famed video game designer, whether it is another MGS title or something entirely new. For more, the full interview can be read here .
PSP 3000 IS BERRY COLOURFUL!
(NOTE! PSP 3000 IS ON THE BOTTOM)
Famitsu posted some comparison shots of the new PSP-3000 and the older PSP-2000 series, and this is easily the most interesting one to note. Here, you see how much better images off the new screen hold up in comparison to the old one. Looks like we're going to have to change our PSP nicknaming system:
Help us brainstorm here, folks.
After watching the Killzone 2 multiplayer trailer , we wondered how much more fun the game's online mode would be without your typical multiplayer douche. Well, now we can find out! The upcoming FPS will, indeed, feature bots. These will be fully customizable difficulty-wise, and can fill in for players either online or offline, allowing any Billy-No-Mates to enjoy a friendly match every once in a while.
Additionally, vehicles are currently only available in the single player mode. Multiplayer vehicles will be patched in after the game is released. Also being patched post-launch is a co-op mode for the story. Whether this will be online or not, we're not entirely certain. Considering the long delay Killzone has suffered enjoyed, we're surprised this won't be included from the get-go. Perhaps we'll have to pay for it, but we're used to that by now, right? Be sure to check out our full Killzone 2 hands-on impressions, coming soon.
Two new passwords have been revealed for Metal Gear Solid 4 . Inputting the access codes in the 'Extras' menu gives players two new weapons: Thor .45-70 large-caliber hand rifle and The Boss' Patriot from Metal Gear Solid 3 . Here are the two codes, respectively: tshsniammr and pkhhnwhsjt .
In addition to the new codes, there's also new music for the in-game iPod titled "Battle." It's a track from the Plant Chapter in MGS2 . It seems Konami is really cranking up the fan service ... and we like it!

PSP 3000'S LCD SCREEN IS TWICE AS FAST!
So what exactly are the improvements made to the PSP-3000's newly upgraded LCD screen? According to a report by Engadget Japan , the screen is more colorful, has a stronger contrast ratio, and to the praise of gamers everywhere, has a faster response time. The official stats? Color gamut is twice as wide. The contrast ratio is improved 5 times. The response time has doubled. For gamers that have complained about the PSP-1000 and 2000's slow response time (which creates a ghosting effect in certain games), this is certainly good news.
