so is there away of setting it back to 4:3 and having it still on 1080i cuz tbh 1080i looks pretty sweet

sorry stevo i didnt understand ur question fully on the psn but i might see the awnser now its cuz when ur ps3 froze up and u reseted it u held the power button for 5sec (must do the same when u switched the power off in the back never heard of it b4 though) this resets the video settings to default and it automaticly detacted ur hdmi cable and when let it set its self it auto choose 1080i it also changed the aspect ratio of ur setting to 16.9 instead of 4.3 which i assume ur tv displays

hey guys portland told me to come here cause i have a bit of a problem ive had my hdmi cable installed for a while now on my 19" humax HD ready tv and it automatically set its self to 576p and the screen looked perfect then i was playing the new RE5 demo this morning and it froze so i switched my ps3 off at the back of the playstation and switched it back on again and it wanted to install the HDMI settings again so i left it to sort itself out and it automatically set itself this time to 1080i but the picture is now all squashed together... i custom changed it back to 576p again and it looked fine.. im confused at why on 1080i my screens all messed up??

Almost at the end of Band of Brothers on Bluray. What can i say that was 10 hours of the best Audio Visual war drama ive ever seen. Picture may not be referance but the sound is imo great and the actual mini series itself is so well done!!  Yep Black Hawk down was great aswell.

hmmm - interesting argument but have to agree with the minions -DVD is really good on a capable upscaler - certainly solid enough for your standard 35mm comedy or drama.  Where you want to look to BluRay is on a solid action flick or ANYTHING where sound is important.  The Phantom of the Opera is a cherished BluRay by many - for instance.  Personally, just bought 'The Rock' and god do I love it.  It's not the best BD by far - but it's still lovely.

If you have to make the choice - then save for sound, action and scenery.  For instance - Blood Diamond can't be missed on BluRay.

That depends on whether you buy it, or not, I guess. I have a careful think about the BDs I'm buying, then decide whether it's worth it. Movies with sweeping vistas, heaps of explosive action, or tons of CG are the winners, for me. Tightly shot, character-driven movies are just fine for DVD upscaling.

However, as for whether they should be on BD, or not...why not? If what you are suggesting applied when DVD came out, half the population would still be using VHS (despite the fact that a tiny percentage still are, I know). It would be hoped that HiDef uptake would be sufficient, in the next ten years to make BD cheaper and a viable replacement for DVD. Doesn't make sense to be picky about what is actually released.

Does anyone else find it frustrating or annoying when a movie comes out on bluray that really wont benefit from it. Superbad and Wedding Crashers. Nothing in either movie really warrants an HD release, yet it's put out there. Sure, I understand it all comes down to semantics, but regardless, seems like a waste of technology with movies like that.

to be honest myself, i cant remember if it was any good lmao. all i can remember is that one scene looked pretty cool with brad pitt fighting, with the way he moves and stuff.
