Is a platinum trophy "worth" much?

I just finished crushing in Uncharted and received the first platinum trophy, but my level didn't increase much... if at all. What gives? Is the platinum worth any level increase? My level only increased enough to reflect my crushing gold trophy.

Sorely disappointed.

I mean I thought that for ex.: Bronze moves bar 1/10th, Silver 1/4th, Gold 1/2, Platinum 3/4 (this is way too large a scale but still). Platinum seemed to move it none! Its like its just something you got it didnt do ne thing for your rank

Crushing is a pain. You die within 3 bullet shots.  You will die if you stay out in the open for more than 1 second literally.  I'm at the hardest bit of the game on crushing (the bit where you drop into the flooded bit underneath the monastery) and you have to fight loads of pirates from all different directions with almost no cover. I'm not sure I will ever get any further Cry

Crushing isn't that bad really , i didn't think it was so hard at all. You do got some annoying parts but whenplaying right its very do-able

By my calculations a platinum is worth twice as much as a gold. Here's my numbers if you want to read. Link to avoid wall of text =P

considering i am 55% complete with crushing mode now, it is just not worth it to stop and not get the platinum.

i think the theory behind the low valued platinum trophy is as follows...you have already received "level points" for getting the origional trophies (bronze, silver, and gold), so why double reward you for getting the platinum? not sure if that makes sense or not, but hopefully you understand what i am trying to say...

@Calik: If you're correct then I have 113 "points" and I'm 27 shy of level 5.

((b * 53) + (s * 12) + (g * 4) + (p * 1)) = 113

@seb

I agree that was the hardest part of Crushing except when I thru a granade before jumping down at the guy that comes out of the pillar to the right.  Then I walked around the sewer area again without jumping down. (I was looking for any better guns)  All of a sudden I kept hearing gun fire.  I walked back I was able to kill everyone from the landing without jumping down.  Laughing  The rest of the game has a few little parts but you just keeping thinking of more efficient ways to kill and after a few trying can usually find a way thru.  Hope that helps.  When you travelling back thru the sewer make sure you go all the way to the back if I remember correctly.

@seb

if you are talking about the part that i am thinking of (where you jump down in flooded room and there is a guy on the wooden platform between pillars, and a guy on the concrete ledge)...i actually had a wes pistol left over from earlier in the game (one shot = one kill) so i took those three out rather quickly, then turned to the left and took out the three guys as they were jumping down, then turned to the right and hid behind a pillar as these three didn't try to run op on me. once they were dead, i turned around to take out the last few. it took me 2 or 3 tries, but i eventually made it through.

good luck!

@seb

Pocketaces is right I did this too looking for better weapons and if you turn around and go all the way back outside you will trigger the pirates to spawn and can pick them off from above.

Crushing was easy. I struggled more on Hard than Crushing, I seriously thought there was a problem. The only thing that annoyed me was not being able to use weapon select.

Can't believe I just read that! Surprised

For me, Hard was barely a step up on Normal. Crushing was a giant leap from Hard.

@ Pocketaces , shoemakerna & Shibbie03 thanks for the tips guys. I will try that tonight!

Oh and @ jdgiotta I've read on the official PlayStation forums that the Platinum trophy contributes around half a level at level 4. Can anyone else here confirm?

I don't know but I would have to say Crushing was more challenging in that you had to play smarter.  you hand to find the most efficient way to beet each area and when you did it was kinda easy but finding that way was sometimes quite challenging and or frustrating Tongue out.  The other big problem was if you started a level with maybe a weapon or low amo that was not a good match for the level then things could be kinda dificult.  But otherwise I found it slightly easier only in for the reason that I had practice.  I must say very happy they patched this with trophies otherwise I may not have bought it.  If they had not patched it so soon with so few trophy game I may had even waited for a price drop but they got full price out of me because of my desire to seek out my 1st platinum trophy.  Cry Wink just felt like overusing smileys Cool

I'm pretty sure a platinum is worth more then a GOLD. BUT platinum's will be shown via HOME. They are most likely the ONLY one's that will have a 3D Representation in Home. Such as a statue of Nathan Drake to put in yoru house. So even if they arent as much exp as you thought they were going to be, they will have a virtual 3D representation which is AWESOME!

@seb - Not sure that is accurate. I was maybe 10%-15% into level 4 before I completed Crushing. With 1 gold and 1 platinum I'm at 50% now.

With stardust I went to youtube and watched some video's for the Bomber one which was the one I couldn't get.  Although it still takes some luck I was able to get it after only 10-15 more times with their strategy.  and while there I saw there were other video's there for any other trophies that hanging you up.  Also just in case you don't know there is no platinum for PSN games.
