It appears that SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation has slipped into next year for Europe.

The solid online multiplayer shooter started out on wobbly legs due to a horde of technical issues, but has since stabilized and become one of the best online experiences out there. It has been available in North America since October 14, but has always had a "TBA 2008" release estimate for Europe. And now, according to European game site Area 51, SCEE has announced that instead of a late-November release (which they apparently had planned), they won't release Confrontation until early next year. That's when the game will finally make its debut in both Blu-Ray and digital download formats, so sadly, it seems Euro gamers won't get the chance to head online for some intense, realistic, tactical fun until 2009. Granted, we haven't seen an official announcement for this just yet, but then again, as we're based here in the U.S., we probably wouldn't see such a press release in our inbox. But if SCEE clarifies this at any point, we'll be sure to let you know; here's hoping they issue a concrete release date.

You needn't worry, though. There are a ton of great games out there for the holiday season (yes, even over there in Europe), so perhaps this is one title you can wait for. Won't it take at least some time to finish all these gems released in October and November, anyway?

I think it's good. There are enough great games out as it is, and at least we know by then it should be all quality :)

Wow.....its strange, thought it was released in EU. They have EU servers up on SOCOM so whatever. You can import a copy from the US if you really want it.

I decided after the month and a half delay to throw my reserve out the window this just makes me think i did the right thing lol

I can understand if your not a hardcore SOCOM fan or if this would've been your first SOCOM. It's not too appealing to newcomers but fun for the vets. I love it!

i liked the beta i found i was pretty good. but these huge delays mean ill be fresh for the guys playing for months to pick out

i mean a month and a half dif is hard enough. ill still get it just take the headset and never play the game lol.

Ah, ya I see what you mean. Happened to me with Warhawk, I didn't play till January because of the lag issues and I got owned for awhile.

I have it. It's good sometimes. As long as the people your talking to have it.

Game seems fine for me.  No problems what so ever.  And I've only had 1 or 2 issues since I bought it on release date.

I feel bad for you Europeans though :(.  Import the game now so we can play!! :D

I heard a rumour that the Socom: Confrontation EU release is being delayed so as not to clash with the recent release of Call of Duty: World at War. Nothing to do with server issues what so ever! (just a rumour I heard while playing online)

does anyone know then if that offical headset will be still available on the 28th? or we expecting that in 2009 too >.>

Boring !!!! Getting bored waiting for " Supposely " the best online shooter and we're still waiting no closer to a date or nothing and them yanks get to play it for over 2 or 3 months now Totally not fair ( And there is more players in the EU than the USA )

 Trust me you don't want it as is. I wish we were getting it at the same point as you guys so we'd have a full game from the get go. Right now we're basically still playing a beta with more maps and a much larger price tag.
