Hey everybody:
I picked up my copy of SOCOM: Confrontation yesterday afternoon. After waiting 7 minutes for the installation process bar to show up, and, after the 10 minute install, and, after installing the other 400mb update: I was ready to bring back some childhood SOCOM II memories. Oh, wait, there is a corrupt data error... OK... So, I went straight into the community tab to start my clan and mess around with the new clan faction system. After picking the SAS faction and messing around with the IW-80 for a few games, I went back to switch to the French faction. Things were going great! I was tearing it up with the new to the series weapon: FAMAS! I played Desert Glory followed by Frostfire and i must say, it was awesome. They hit the nail on the head bringing 2 classic SOCOM maps into High Definition. Then, it happened... I recieved my first error message; technically it was my second, but anyways, it said community features were currently unavaliable. no biggie... until my sweet French riot shield helmet and FAMAS disappeared! Whatever... so anyways i played a few games with my friend.. got disconnected a few times... 10 times to be precise. Then, I couldn't log back on to the servers or even initiate connecting to the network. This has been happening for the past 2 days... and yes.. it's really annoying. BUT NONE THE LESS... just deal with it for the next few days. /6 has done a great job with recreating a semi - SOCOM II experience. I know for a fact that once the next patch comes out within a few days, it will be a fantastic online experience. Also, when the rest of the community features such as party systems, and trophies are implemented, it will be amazing. My only complaint about this game thus far aside from the fact it is unplayable at the moment, would be character customization and the SIXAXIS peeking system. Customization is awesome! BUT, I want more clothing and head gear to choose from! Instead of 2 sets of sunglasses for mercenaries, how about like 40?! And, the SIXAXIS is great and all, but, my controller is broken from dropping it too much. When I don't need to lean, I lean: and when I need to lean, I forget that I turned SIXAXIS off because it was annoying. I miss my classic D-Pad peeking. I also forgot to mention that knifing and sprinting work extremely well with the SOCOM series! All in all: SOCOM Confrontation is a fantastic online shooter with few flaws aside from the first week server side issues.
If anyone wants to play with me, let me know!
