Just finished up playing a few rounds of GT5P, and maybe it's just my typical shitty luck, but are the rest of you dealing with people who are out to screw genuine competition?  Perfect example: I was running 3rd in a field of 12, one lap to go, when someone in an R8 decided it would be fun to not only send me into the wall, but also the #2, #4, 5, 6, and 7 cars.  I understand the "Rapid movement adjustment" feature is meant to combat this, but it seems ineffective...

Is anyone else frustrated that a beautiful, thorough, challenging racing sim is being *expletive deleted* on by these idiots that think it's Burnout Paradise?

Yes!

But it does seem to get a little better as you move on to the higher ranked races.

I'm so frustrated, playing this game online is like playing Burnout or MotorStorm, not like playing a simulator.

Yeah people driving the different way , people that try to crash you , people that hit the brakes all of a sudden so you bump into them , its annoying and destroy's the entire way GT should be played.

They should let you setup your own games and invite your friends.

Rich3000,

I agree 100%, I'm sure we've all came into a corner too hot and ended up eating the barrier, or bumping another car because of it.  The game does allow some room for error with the sudden direction change system, but like you said, it's the idiots that purposefully wreck other drivers that REALLY need to be addressed.

Whitemegafire,

I agree...thinking about starting an online petition or sending a mass email to Polyphony Digital suggesting they integrate a friend list or create-your-own race or league in an update.

Has anyone heard if these issues will be addressed in the full version due next year?

These are the sort of people that TK others in games like BF;BC, Socom, COD4 etc & not much can be done without a voting system, user created rooms & lobby and a working mic system with muting ability.

So until GT5 comes out & has those elements, then the game will be pretty poor online.

I have only been online twice, raced once ( left while waiting to find a race the 2nd time) and got D/Ced after half a lap. So no, I haven't experienced this yet as online is so bloody poor to begin with that I haven't been in long enough or often enough to meet these idiots.

Games need to come with online voting options, host kicking abilities & ban-list options for hosts.

Until that happens, online gaming is going to be pretty bad for lack of good gamesmanship.

And I wouldn't worry about being voted for winning. They have to stop driving to do that.;) Unless of course its a tournament set-up which then whould leave you needing user created rooms to ensure you race with people who are fair gamers.

This is why I'm not playing GT5 online until there's a good communication system, and I have a steering wheel and a good racing clan.

It's not that bad at Intermediate races, but in Beginner races it's a serious problem.

It depends on how patient you are.

The game will not be out for a long time yet, so its probably best to pick up a trade in. It was worth it for me, although online wasn't. Im still playing it every now & again offline so its lasting long enough & proving value for money to some extent.

There will not be a game like this on the PS3 so you have limited options.

So if you are not a long-term fan of the game, I suggest you look for a trade in copy and practice before the full game comes along.

they need to set up rooms or lobbys for the game,me and a few fiends played it but we all rang each other so we could get in the same race. if you had your own rooms you can get you mates in and kick out all the cheats

always race in expert, at least you normally get racers in that rank, yes its hard but that makes it more challanging :)

It's a shame, I'd really like to play this game online, but I just won't do it until there's some actual online options available.

It is rather annoying when people purposely try to screw you up just to get ahead. I always like to compare it to Le mans or any kind of GT series racing, in real life no one in their right mind would do anything to harm another driver, let alone themselves.

Like what priesty was saying, if you go into the expert races, you'll generally find more respectable racers.

Hopefully another update will be coming soon to allow voice chatting and private races.

It is completely frustrating playing GT5 online!!!

There are allways some people playing who can´t stand making the last place in a race... and trying to bump you.

....or maybe there just can´t find the brakes.

I´m AT LEAST still trying to drive a game online...but since now , I never had a fair race.

I sadly don't play it online because its horrible for a first party game. No private rooms, no friend invites nothing. It takes to long to find a room. But I do know of the idiots you speak of.

It sounds rubbish but the only way to avoid all of this is to be in 1st place!

Seriously though, I was/am totally annoyed by this and if I didn't love GT so much I'd probably not play it as CA36GTP said. As stated the Expert races are a lot better, even the intermediate races are better. I now fully expect to get shoved off the track at certain points and drive accordingly:

Go into risky corners off the line so they are not behind you but brake later and get to the apex first , at the apex you will be going a bit slower then the others obvioulsy but if you got to the apex first then you can hang the cars behind you out to dry :)

I can't find the link now, but I read somewhere a week or so ago that an update before the end of the year will introduce 'rooms', so that you and your friends can race together. Hopefully it's true, and will improve things a little.

Yeah I heard that too so don't give up now! It's almost the game it was supposed to be!

+ a Citroen Concept car is apparently being added, you can check out in the Playfire Car Club group. Not sure how to link to it but you'll be able to find it through my profile, I'm only in a couple of groups.

I think the online part of GT5P has to be one of the worst driving experiences I have had. Even now after the update, the cars move across the track jerkily, they dont look "heavy", its very very poor imo.

I started playing the 1 player again last night, which is very enjoyable.  If only the devs could get the smoothness of the 1 player game in the multiplayer, and do something about the annoying collision penalties.

I always rated the GT series as THE BEST racing simulator available....

IMO Forza 2 now holds that place, Polyphony need to start taking some notes.

gt5 prologue very frustrating when you go online:

in a real race you are concentrate about the race line, negotiate properly the turns, drive faster and watch for the others to avoid any crash.

in gt5 you are affraid to be hit by someone else and you are more concentrate on the others than your own driving because online like destruction derby and not racing sim.

would like to have a gtr game on the ps3 but the problem will still the same: the others if they're racing fans you can drive all night, if they're not fair play, you'll not play anymore to the game.
