Scan lines on the PSP 3000?

The PSP has come to my interest lately because of the new games coming out for it later this year. I want to buy a Gamestop bundle that has a PSP 3000 along with Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, a voucher for Echochrome, and a 1 GB memory stick for $200. It sounds like it'd be a great deal, but my friend says the 3000 has visible scan lines on the screen that distort the image. Is this something that would make me want to avoid the 3000 or is it no big deal?

Easy way to find this out. Go to GameStop, buy it (keep the receipt), turn it on, see if there are scan lines. If there are, take it back in and return it. All you lose is a little time.

I don't have $200 to spare right now, though. Frown

I bought one earlier this month to replace my original launch model, and haven't noticed a thing. I have a few 'older' games (the more likely to have the problem - Everybody's Golf, Killzone Liberation), and have noticed nothing. I also have Size Matters, and it's fine.

Certainly, any games released from this point on will be absolutely fine.

Oh, and I highly recommend Resistance Retribution... brilliant game!

Well then why is this an issue?

Because I'll be buying a PSP later in the year when I have money to spend.

I've noticed this  problem, and it can pop up at any time, with any game. It's not the games that effect it, it's the new screen itself just quitting on you, since it does alot more work than previos PSP (Better contrast, more pixels, and display alot more colors).
This is why I bought a 2000 in Feb instead of a 3000.

Complete and utter BS.

It has nothing to do with the screen malfunctioning, it's due to the new pixel arrangement on the screen, the increased brightness and colour contrast. Any idiot can Google it and see that it's nothing to do with defective screens.

Same here... and I've had the PSP-1000 (phat) as well... never noticed anything negative like scan lines while using my PSP-3000 and I've had it for about 5 months now... go pick it up... echochrome is a great game...

I go by customer complaints from people that come to my store, why would they lie about how it screwed up?
